Dorothy Suter Parsons, age 83, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents Elden and Ethel Suter, brother Louis Suter, and husband of sixty-four years, Kenneth Ray Parsons. Mrs. Parsons is survived by her children, Darlene and Ed Sommer, Cheryl and Scott Irwin, Raymond and Christine Parsons and Kent and Jenny Parsons; grandchildren, Jeremy Sommer, Joseph Sommer, Jenna Roddy, Jordan Sommer, Renee Irwin, Kelly Diviney, Sean Irwin, Reilly Parsons, Shannon Parsons, Connor Parsons and Koryn Parsons; and 13 great grandchildren. Dorothy “Dot” Parsons was born Oct. 8th, 1939 in Plymouth, IN. She graduated from Madison High School, Bethel University, and received a Master’s Degree in Education from IUSB. While living in Mishawaka, she taught elementary school for 20 years retiring from Baugo Community Schools. Dorothy met her husband, Ken, while singing for the Gospel Center Worship Hour Radio Broadcast. They connected through their mutual passion for music and Christian faith, and were very active throughout their lives in Missionary Churches in northern Indiana. After retirement, they continued their music ministry in Buford, GA through Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church and the Silvertones Community Choir. She was involved in so many activities throughout her life. She loved gardening, sewing, singing, sports, traveling and gathering with friends and family. She enjoyed fishing and spending time at their lake house. Dorothy was always supportive of her children and grandchildren by attending their sports games, music recitals, and other activities. Her companionship and faithfulness to family and friends will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
