Ina Elizabeth Lay Couch

Mrs. Ina Elizabeth Lay Couch, 90, of Gainesville passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at her residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Marty Darracott will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m.

Born on February 12, 1932 in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late George David and Lillie Mae Pruitt Lay. Mrs. Couch was a Native American, member of the Georgia Tribe Eastern Cherokee where she served as secretary for many years. She was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. Mrs. Couch was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Couch was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Couch, Sr.; daughter, Rhonda Beasley; brothers, Charles, Lawrence, Harold and George Lay; sisters in law, Lorene Lay, Nell Lay, Laverne Lay and brother in law, Kenneth Dickenson.

Mrs. Couch is survived by her son and daughter in law, David W. Couch, II and Julie of Gainesville; son, Danny Joe Couch of Gainesville; grandsons, Jared Couch, Cody Couch, Nathan Couch, Robert Holcomb; granddaughters, Dea Gunter, Michelle Doster, Alayna Beasley; grandsons, Caleb Couch, Blake Couch; 21 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Dickenson; sister in law, Jerri Lay and a number nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
