Nonnie Dilworth Marett, 64, of Gainesville, Georgia, peacefully passed away on August 5, 2022 surrounded by her friends and loved ones, after a difficult five-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Nonnie was born on January 18, 1958 to William and Nonnie Marett in Greenville, South Carolina, and grew up in Hartwell, Georgia. ‘Little Nonnie’ enjoyed a happy childhood surrounded by a large family of 35 first cousins. After Nonnie graduated from Hartwell High School, she obtained a degree in Biology at Mercer University. She worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative in biotechnology for over 40 years, for prominent companies such as Purdue, Actelion, and, lastly, Johnson & Johnson.
When first diagnosed in 2017, Nonnie was determined to not let it change the way she lived. She continued to live life to the fullest by spending time with her friends and family and traveling the world. She was deeply passionate about traveling, having most recently been on vacation with her family in St Barth and London, England. Her favorite destination was Ravello, Italy. She also enjoyed cooking new foods for her friends and family and designing her garden, taking particular pride in her blue hydrangeas.
In June 0f 2015, Nonnie married William S. (Bill) Rogers, Jr. Nonnie and Bill were deeply devoted to each other, as each of them had found their soul mate. Their favorite thing to do was to simply be together, no matter what it was; but Bill shared Nonnie’s passion for travel and they enjoyed numerous beautiful trips together. Their moments together will always be cherished.
Nonnie was a fantastic and wonderful mother. Nonnie’s devotion to and close relationship with her daughter, Marett Davis Peets, was simply amazing and unsurpassed. Nonnie and Marett were in contact every day, talking about travel, Marett’s work, and small things, that would make both of them smile. Nonnie also stepped in and became the perfect step-mother to Bill’s children. She has been instrumental in their lives, and this will never be forgotten.
Nonnie was predeceased by her father and mother. She is survived by her daughter Marett, her husband Bill, her brother William Marett and his wife Patricia Marett, and their children and grandchildren, her stepchildren Alison Ables Janes and husband Blair Janes and their new daughter Peyton, Mary Rogers Dietlin and husband Aldon Deitlin, Travis Ables, and William Christian (Will) Rogers. She supported all of her children and her husband with every fiber of her being. We will miss “Mommie” and my “Sweet Wife” every day.
Services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 422 Brenau Avenue in Gainesville, Georgia 30501 on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. There will be a reception at the Church following the service to celebrate Nonnie’s life.
