Carl Eugene "Gene" Thomason

Mr. Carl Eugene “Gene” Thomason, age 83 of Mize Road, Toccoa passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at his residence. 

A son of the late Monroe Coleman Thomason and Annie Ruth Brown Thomason, he was born January 24, 1939 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived in Franklin and Stephens County most of his life.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard.  He retired from Athens Banner Herald after 39 years of service.  He also worked with several furniture companies including Habersham Plantation, Toccoa Manufacturing and Western Stickley.  He was of the Baptist faith.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Howard and William Thomason. 

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Ray Thomason; daughter and son in law, Stacey and Michael Bond of Royston, Georgia; son, Carlton Thomson of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Dylan Bond, Trevor Bond and Drake Bond, and Alec Bond; great-grandchild, Sadie Grace Bond; brother, Ronnie Thomason of Killeen, Texas; two sisters, Betty Doomey of Ramona, California and Brenda Carroll of Clermont, Georgia; a number of nieces and nephews. 

Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022, 4 o’clock p.m. at Victoria Bryant State Park, Shelter #4 with The Reverend Andy Bond officiating.
