Amos Lee Stover

Mr. Amos Lee Stover, age 97, of Maysville, GA passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Rev. Lamar Purcell and Rev. LeeRoy Dalrymple will officiate.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Stover was born August 28, 1924, in Hall County, to the late Rufus Grady Stover and Minnie Hooper Stover.  Amos is also preceded in death by all of his siblings.

He attended Tadmore High School where he completed the seventh grade.  He then received a job in the Gainesville Cotton Mill as a spinning room doffer and was promoted to the roller shop in which he buffed rollers for carding and spinning.  Then came the bombing of Pearl Harbor and he went into the United States Navy.  Honorable discharge in 1946, served in the Asiatic Pacific Area with Six Battle Stars on his Ribbons.  He served on the Transport Fredrick Funston.  After returning home from the Navy, he went back to the Gainesville Cotton Mill and worked for some time.  Later he went to work as an Insurance Agent with Southland Life, where he retired after 20 years of service. Mr. Stover was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Amos is survived by his wife of 74 years, Nazzarahh “Ann” Bone Stover; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Lee (Ricky) of Augusta, GA, Gail Dalrymple (LeeRoy) of Maysville, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Philip Stover (Michelle) of Gainesville, GA, Ken Stover of Oakwood, GA; 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives also survive.
