John Jerry Robertson departed this life on Saturday, July 16, 2022. He was born in Dawson County on October 17, 1936 to the late Taylor J. and Mildred Stephens Robertson. He was a graduate of Oakwood High School, Southern Business University and studied at Morris Harvey College.
Mr. Robertson was the owner of Dixie Tire Stores, Inc. for 45 years. He served in the United States Army from 1959 until 1962. He was a member of the Jaycees, Lions Club and the Elks Association. He was chosen the Elks Secretary of the Year for the State of Georgia in 1985-86.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. He served as Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He was on many committees and served on the building committee for the present-day church. In 1969 he was named Outstanding Young Man of America.
Mr. Robertson is survived by his wife, Annette Glover Robertson, for over 60 years. Sons, Mike and his wife Kim along with their children, Spencer, Lanie and Lexie, great grand-daughter, Addie, Mark and his wife Jamie along with their children, Zoie and Ellis. Special cousin, John Robertson and his wife Kelly and their children, Sam and Luke. Sister, Susan Leslie and her husband Steve. He is also survived by four nieces, Angie and her husband Fred, Kristen, Taylor, Betsy with her husband Paul Brown, he is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Ellis and his wife Angela, Rick and his wife Linda, and sisters-in-law, Vonna Gallagher and her husband Paul, and Lou Glover.
He is predeceased by his brother, Dean Robertson and brother-in-law, Don Glover.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday July 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville. Rev. Roe Callaway and Rev. Shon Peppers will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday July 19, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Little & Davenport Funeral Home and again Wednesday at the church immediately following the memorial service.
