Patricia Joy Ellis

Mrs. Patricia Joy Ellis passed away peacefully at NEGMC, July 13, 2022, following an extended illness.

Patricia Joy Ellis was born in Gainesville, GA on August 28, 1946 to the late Lundy Bronze and Celestine Price Ellis.

Pat had an enigmatic zest for life and left her mark on all who were blessed to know her. She was generous to a fault at times, true to her loving nature.

Pat was a retired Sears Executive and also worked as a lobbyist. She was a graduate of East Hall High School in 1964. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Behavior Science in 1972 from Brenau University, then went on to receive her Masters in Education from the University of Georgia in 2012. She was an active member of New Bridge Baptist Church an in her selfless way, could always be counted on to volunteer for multiple church functions.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Simmons; brothers, Billy Ellis and Phil Ellis, and nephew Ricky Ellis.

She is survived by stepson Ken and wife Lisa Simmons; step-grandson, Andrew and wife Kristin Simmons;,their daughter, Chesney, step-granddaughter, Kaleigh and husband Cameron Garrett; step-grandson, Taylor and wife Becca Simmons. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Ellis; her niece Becky and her husband Jay Hollander and great-nephew, Devin Hollander and his twin daughters, Hadley and Briar, great-niece, Danielle and husband Corey Newman; and great-nephew, Drake Hollander. Niece, Samantha and husband Dan Barnes and great-nephew, Gus Barnes; nephew, Damon Ellis and great-niece, Peyton Ellis. Nephew JJ and wife, Marie Ellis.

Per her request, there will only be a small intimate graveside service at New Bridge Baptist Church on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 am. Reverend Milton Harris will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to New Bridge Baptist Church for the “Reflection Garden Fund” at 3120 Cleveland Highway, Gainesville, GA 30506.

The family would like to thank the amazing nurses and staff in the Hospice wing of Northeast Georgia Medical Center for their compassion and excellent care provided. And, for all the members of New Bridge Church for their continued love and prayers.
