Curtis Stanley Collins

Obituary Date: Friday, July 8, 2022
Curtis Stanley Collins, 73, of Oakwood, GA passed away on July 8, 2022, due to sudden illness. Born in Gainesville, GA to Ed & Eva Collins, Curtis grew up in a large, loving family with 3 sisters and 3 brothers (and lots of mischief). After graduating East Hall High School, Curtis pursued a career in accounting at Young Harris College. His time away solidified one thing, his life was meant to be shared with high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Reidling. Curtis & Pat were married on July 3, 1969, officially binding the Collins & Roberts clan together for life. Curtis & Pat lived in Gainesville, GA where they raised their son, Curtis Stacy Collins, and daughter, Kristy Dannell Collins Slaton.

Curtis continued his education at the University of Georgia and Georgia State University. His love of people & desire to help others with their accounting & financial needs consistently pushed him to further his education.

Through the years, Curtis was blessed with 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons. After 50 glorious years of marriage, he lost his 1st love to cancer. In the year that followed, God unexpectedly showed that life was not over for him. Curtis married Fabian Lavender Howard on October 10, 2020, joining the Collins & Howard clans. Curtis & Fabian attended Grace Episcopal Church and enjoyed traveling together. They lived happily in Oakwood, GA till his passing.

We’ve spoke of Curtis family growing during marriage, but truth be told, it grew daily. He welcomed others into his life with open arms. We speak of adopted sons & daughters, brothers & sisters and such because that’s what you became when you met Curtis…FAMILY.

Curtis requested to be cremated. An informal visitation service to celebrate his life will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home 2030 Memorial Park Rd. Gainesville, GA on Tuesday July 12th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A formal service will take place at Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, GA on Thursday July 14th at 2pm; all are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local food bank.
