Dorothy Jean Puddington

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Puddington, 93, of Gainesville, GA, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the home of her son, James, surrounded by her family.

Born on June 12, 1929 in Cambridge, OH, she was the daughter of the late Donice E. Hinton and the late Mary Jane McCartney Hinton.  She was a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Lowville, NY. Jean was very active in her community reaching out to others in service. Through her card ministry, she sent out over one thousand cards and notes encouraging others. She was also active in Meals-On-Wheels, Food Pantry, Clothing Ministry and the American Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Ann Puddington.

Mrs. Puddington, who was a devoted wife and loving mother, is survived by her husband of 70 years, David George Puddington. They were married in Bexley, OH, at Christ Lutheran Church. She is also survived by sons, James Michael Puddington (Jeanne) of Gainesville, GA, Stephen Robert Puddington (Patrice) of Beaver Falls, NY; daughter, Shannon Marie Puddington of Sprakers, NY; grandchildren, James, Matthew, Ryan, Rebekah, Paul (Meredith), Meghan, Emma, Heather, Lance and great grandchild, Elias.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
