Shirley Ann Pitchford, 82 of Gainesville died Sunday June 26, 2022 at her residence.
Born in Nantahala, North Carolina, Shirley had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late D.A. (Doc) and Anna Matilda Guffie Solesbee. Shirley had worked for Chicopee Manufacturing Company and Harris Calorific before retiring. She was a member of South Bend United Methodist Church.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Solesbee.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Tommy R. Pitchford, Gainesville, children, Tim and Marie Merck, Gainesville, Sundi and Ricky Dyer, Clermont, Lori and Lowell Whitmire, Flowery Branch, grandchildren, Peyton Merck, Tanner Merck, Trace Merck, Keely Merck, Matti Dyer, Taylor and Hanna Whitmire, Charlie Whitmire, great grandchild, Archer Whitmire, stepchildren, Sharon Roper, Richard Pitchford, Debra Britto, brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Susie Solesbee, Clayton, sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Art Gunter, Ft. Payne, Alabama. A number of nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
Memorial services will be held Friday July 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Lowell Whitmire and Johnny Solesbee will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday June 30, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions please be made to the Ronnie Green Heart Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center or the Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of Shirley.
