William Coy Johnston passed away on June 26, 2022, at the age of 85. He was the child of Coy Kelley Johnston and Mary Gladys Perry Johnston and was born in Baltimore, MD.
Bill grew up and lived in numerous areas including West Hartford, CT, Upper Montclair, NJ, Jonesboro, GA, Atlanta, GA, Manhattan Beach, CA, and settled in Cleveland, GA for over 40 years.
He attended University of Florida and Georgia Tech, receiving his masters from Georgia Tech in mechanical engineering. Bill worked in aerospace and other engineering industries. He was an artist at heart and found his true passion with painting, making gold jewelry, sculpting, and hand building their house. Bill found his ultimate career in making fine furniture. He created hand made and hand carved pieces, which he sold to antique dealers in Atlanta and filled their home. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, had a life-long love of cars, and a special connection with their many pets over the years.
Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia King Johnston of Cleveland, GA; children, Suzanne Johnston Petersen, Christian Gregor Johnston, and Clare Elizabeth Johnston; two granddaughters, Megan Johnston and Sarah Johnston, and great grandson Declan Johnston; sister Katherine Mathers, niece, nephew, their families, and dear friends.
