John Bradley "Brad" Fox

Obituary Date: Monday, June 20, 2022

John Bradley “Brad” Fox, photographer, retired microbiologist, and beloved curmudgeon passed away June 20th, at age 85 in Dahlonega, Georgia.

Brad will be greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, Joyce; his daughter from his first marriage, Jennifer Thomas, her husband, John, and grandson, Zachary; his son, John Fox (also from his first marriage); and his brother, David Fox.

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Brad served in the United States Army before attending the University of Tennessee where he received his Master’s degree in Microbiology.  Spending the majority of his career working in the Atlanta area as a microbiologist, Brad eventually retired from PathCon Laboratories.

After retirement, Brad moved with his wife to Dahlonega to enjoy the beautiful mountains of North Georgia.  An accomplished and passionate nature photographer, Brad spent countless hours exploring national parks across the country with his tripod in tow, waiting for the “perfect light”.

His daughter, Jennifer Thomas, wrote of him…

Dad was the smartest man I have ever known…Thankfully, his grandson {Zachary} is taking after him. They had quite a few conversations that would go over everyone else’s head!  Not only was he smart, but had quite the sense of humor and cracked me up even until his last days.  He and my husband, John, teased and offended each other for over 30 years!... He was such a great dad.”

The family will hold a private ceremony with a celebration of Brad’s life to be scheduled and attended by his friends and family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute (give.cancerresearch.org) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
