Obituary Date: Tuesday, June 14, 2022

Mrs. Patricia Ann Argo Cantrell, 87 of Dahlonega.

Mrs. Cantrell was born in the “Old Jail” in Lumpkin County on June 14, 1935 to her parents Kenneth & Velma Argo, as her grandfather was Sheriff at the time. Patsy, being an 8th generation Dahlonega was a true native and loved her hometown.  In 1954 she married her sweetheart Cammie Cantrell and they had 3 children. Nicki (Gary) Chester, Dee Cantrell, and Camille Cantrell.  “Pat”, as she was known after marriage, began working for 9th District’s Community Action Program, and for Lumpkin County Schools Systems.  It was there that she was able to highlight one of her many talents and passions as an artist. She painted the Indian mural at the JP King Memorial Stadium as well as the gymnasium floor. Later on she embraced her love of nature by owning and operating her own greenhouse from 1977-1982. Pat finished her career as the ER Admissions clerk at what was formerly St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dahlonega. Over the years Pat was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church, The Art Alliance, Lumpkin County Historical Society, and many other organizations throughout the community. Pat’s most notable talent in her mind was for the last 45 years making all the crowns for the Gold Rush Kings. Pat herself was awarded the title of Queen in 2003. She never missed a single crowning.

On June 14, 2022, on her 87th birthday; she joined her parents, grandson Cullen Branch, brother Dan Argo, and numerous other loved ones in her heavenly home.  Mrs. Cantrell will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

In addition to her children, she is also survived by her grandchildren; Wren (Jason) Cook, Ryan (Jenna Buckles) Garmon, and Brittani (Jeremy) Abercrombie as well as great grandchildren Noah Cook, Eliza Cook, and Carson Abercrombie. Numerous other relatives also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 25, 2022 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Hutcheson will officiate. A reception will follow in the community room of the funeral home.
