Danny Scott Hitt

Obituary Date: Thursday, June 16, 2022

Danny Scott Hitt, 55, of Cumming passed away Thursday, June 16th at Northside Hospital Forsyth after a brief battle with lung cancer. Danny was the youngest of five children born to the late Elwin J. and Joyce Martin Hitt.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.P. and Dolly Hansard Hitt and Clyde and Molly Adams Martin. Danny is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Hunter (Corey) and Jayci Hitt, grandson, Creed, sister, Brenda (George) Sams, Cathy Frix (Rachel Jefferson), brothers, Johnny Hitt, Randy Hitt (Brian Garrison), mother of his son, Casandra Gawlik. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive along with his cat, Wally.

Danny was a diehard fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. He was quick witted, loved telling corny jokes and making up words for the day. Danny was also quick to forgive and never held a grudge. Until his cancer diagnosis, Danny was proud of his Duck Dynasty-type beard and was proficient in concocting specialized beard oils. He enjoyed photography and collecting anything Disney related. He loved country music, Mustang automobiles, his tattoos and Labrador Retrievers. He prided himself on attaining the latest and greatest electronics.

Danny was a native of Forsyth County, he attended Forsyth County High School and was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church. He was most recently employed by Fry-Reglet in Alpharetta. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Northside Hospital Forsyth for taking such great care of Danny and showing compassion to the family (especially nurses Mandy, Mary and Paula).

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, June 25th, from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, June 26th from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 26th, at Roanoke Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Brian Lake and Rev. George Sams officiating. Cremains will be interred in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Roanoke Baptist Church.
