Edna Lancaster Walker

Obituary Date: Friday, June 10, 2022

Edna Lancaster Walker, 94, passed away June 10, 2022 in Nacogdoches, Texas. (She would’ve been 96 next year.) Edna was born August 9, 1927 in Temple, Georgia to parents Edna Bell and William Henry Lancaster. She grew up on a farm with siblings Mary, Jill, Sara, and Betty.
Edna was a loving wife to the late Marvin Walker, and proud mother to Michael Walker. She was a savvy businesswoman with a long list of successful ventures including a clothing store, multiple bakeries, and countless antique booths. Edna spent the majority of her life with friends and family in Georgia before moving to Texas to help look after her only granddaughter. Edna never met a stranger and was known around every town she lived in to engage everyone she encountered. To have known her was to be fed by her, hungry or not.

Edna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Catherine Walker, only granddaughter, Savannah Walker, sister and brother-in-law, David and Sara McGaha, sister, Betty Mobley, her niece, Becky Stewart and nephew, Danny McGaha, great nieces, Cara, Anna, Christen, and Tiffany, great nephew, David, as well as their beautiful families and children. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Walker, parents, Edna Bell and William Henry Lancaster, siblings, Jill Keaton and Mary Tilley, and a lifetime of well-loved, over-fed pets.
Edna will be laid to rest at Memorial Park South Cemetery in Flowery Branch, Georgia beside her late husband, and a graveside service led by Deanna McGinnis Lancaster will be held on Saturday, June 18th at 11:00a.m., so that no one has to miss work (as per her request).
In lieu of flowers, Edna’s family requests that you make a donation to your local animal shelter or humane society in her name, or buy something at a garage sale and sell it to someone else for double what you paid for it.
In dealing with this sad news, we hope everyone is able to find comfort in knowing Edna passed peacefully and was most certainly greeted in heaven by a crowd of loving family who have waited quite some time to see her, as well as a large group of animals waiting to be spoiled in the way only she knows how. As Edna would advise, be good and be careful.
