Linda Pecquet Hurstell, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Dacula, GA on June 11, 2022, after battling gallbladder cancer. She is survived by her four children, Douglas (Lauren) Hurstell, Scott Hurstell, Micah (Ben) Caruana, Bethany (Reverend Frank) Haynes; siblings: Shelby (Tina) Pecquet Jr, Patricia (Brian) Menard, Diane (Mark) Nichols and Connie Pecquet; grandchildren: Liora Haynes, Connor Caruana, Charis Haynes, Catherine Caruana, and 28 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Hurstell Jr; brother, Donald Pecquet; mother, Audrey Pecquet; and father, Shelby Pecquet Sr.
The oldest of five children, she was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. She graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Development from Louisiana State University prior to marrying her high school sweetheart and husband of 42 years, Mackey.
Linda wholeheartedly loved the Lord and her family. She was cherished for her courage, faith, generosity, joyful smile, wisdom, love, and support. Linda boldly told others about Jesus’s saving grace and His power to bring life and hope to others.
In addition to homeschooling her children for 17 years and transporting them to various activities, Linda enjoyed speaking at Stonecroft’s Christian Women’s Clubs for 12 years and cultivating deep friendships. She founded a children’s theater group, taught English as a Second Language, and led women’s bible studies and Grief Share groups. She taught art to women who were in transition out of prison and opened her home to loved ones in need as well as international ballet students who she treated as daughters of her own. She loved painting, taking pictures, documenting both her and her children’s lives in scrapbooks as well as written stories (some of which made it into a book that she wrote and published in 2021, “Crazy Peace”). Most recently, she found great joy in her role as Nana to her four grandchildren.
