On June 8, 2022, we said goodbye to our beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Friend: Ethan “James” Bennett, age 60, of Dahlonega, Georgia.
James was a Provider, Builder and Protector to his family. His 40 years in construction would allow him to build just about anything and he most certainly had the right tool for the job. When he wasn’t building, he was fixing or driving his hot rods, and could often be located in the Mountains of Hiawassee doing just that.
It was in Hiawassee that James met the love of his life Irene in 2003, and they have spent as much time as possible living life to the fullest each day with each other. The mountains for North GA was where James felt most at home and with Irene by his side there wasn’t any road they wouldn’t drive. He will be dearly missed.
James is preceded in death by his parents, father Major Leon Bennett and mother Willie Lou Bennett. Taken too soon he is also preceded in death by his step-daughtersJennifer Wood (2008) and Valerie Martin (2013).
James is survived by his wife of 19 years: Irene Bennett, twin sister: Edith Jane Chambers (Alan) of Cleveland, brother: Nelson Bennett of Cumming, son: Ethan Joseph Bennett (Nicole) of Dawsonville, daughter: Diane Leigh Pacheco of CA, step-son: Robert Andrew Wood of Chicago, aunt: Josephine Walls, nephews: Ricky, David and Joel, nieces: Brittany and Jess, and many beloved great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
A celebration of James life will be scheduled and attended by family and friends at a later date.
