Karma K. McMullan

Obituary Date: Friday, June 3, 2022
Karma K. McMullan, age 86, of Elberton, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at her residence while she was surrounded by her loving family.

Karma was born in Abbeville, South Carolina to the late Col. Robert Luther Knell, Sr., USA, Ret. and Elizabeth “Liz” Knell.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, William “Bill” McMullan.

Known to many as a Bible scholar, Karma was a devout Christian who loved to share the word of her Lord with others.  While she could occasionally be found across the street at the Methodist church, Karma was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Elberton where she was a member of the McAvoy Sunday school class.  At FBC, she devoted her talents to the adult choir as well as leading the children’s choir.  Having a great love for children, she spent much of her adult life working in the Elbert County school system.  Karma will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her outspoken nature, and her love for Clemson football.

Left to continue her legacy, she is survived by her three sons, William O. “Bill” McMullan III of Elberton, Robert McMullan (Laura) of Greenville, and John McMullan (Whitney) of Athens; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; brother, Robert L. Knell, Jr. of Stone Mountain; brother in law, Richard McMullan (Susan) of Cornelia; and several loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Karma’s life and her service to the Lord will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. during a graveside service at Elmhurst Cemetery in Elberton.  Reverend Gary Purvis and Reverend Eric Lundy will officiate.

Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 P.M. at Hicks Funeral Home before traveling in procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Celebrate Recovery at First Baptist Church Elberton, 132 Heard Street, Elberton.
