Kathryne Moore McCraney Rigdon

Kathryne Moore McCraney Rigdon, of Snellville, GA passed away May 30, 2022. 

Born in Lee County Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Peyton Jenkins Moore and Julia Gray Moore.

She graduated from Lee County High School in Auburn, Alabama and from Auburn University with a Batchelor of Science.  She was an avid reader who utilized her creativity, artistry, and sense of style in all aspects of her life; home decorating, flower arranging for family and friends, fashion, entertaining, and cooking. 

Kathryne was strong, independent, private, and self-assured.  She touched the lives of others through volunteer and philanthropic support beginning in her early 30s. She was a faithful volunteer for the Easterseals and stepped into the role of interim director of the Southwest Georgia Easter Seals in Albany, GA.  She worked off and on with Family and Children Services in Columbus and Macon, GA.  She received her real estate license and became a partner with her late Husband developing lake front property.  While in Albany, Georgia Kathryne was a member of the Charity League, and served on the Board of  Directors for Easterseals , Goodwill Industries, and The American Heart Association.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie McCraney-Brogdon, son-in-law William F. Brogdon, Grandson William F. Brogdon, II, his wife Leslie Clevenger Brogdon, great grandchildren Laurielle, and Julian, and Granddaughter Kathryn Gray Brogdon.  She is preceded by her siblings and husbands Roy Julian McCraney, and Jack Berry Rigdon.

In keeping with Kathryne’s wishes she will be interred in the family plot in Pine Hill Cemetery in Auburn, Alabama.  The family will gather later for a private, graveside memorial service.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to the charity of your choice.
