Rick Aiken

Obituary Date: Sunday, May 29, 2022

Rick Aiken, 77 of Gainesville passed away Sunday May 29, 2022 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center-Gainesville Campus.

Born in Timmonsville, South Carolina, Mr. Aiken had lived in Hall County since 1983.  He was the director of the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia from 1989 until his retirement in 2013.  He was a very loving person of animals and an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan.  Since 1984 Rick had only missed one Georgia Bulldogs football game, home and away games. He was a member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Pearce Aiken, daughter, Laura Aiken, son and daughter-in-law, Richey and Brandi Aiken, all of Gainesville, grandchildren, Mckay Aiken, Jackson Aiken, Brooklin Russell, and Emily Russell, sister, Molly Cobb, Camden, South Carolina, sister-in-law, Elva Aiken, Irmo, South Carolina.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Aiken is preceded in death by his parents, John Everett and Hannah Moore Aiken.

Funeral services will be held Thursday June 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Rev. Mike Taylor will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions please be made to the Atlanta Humane Society in memory of Mr. Aiken.
