Clinton Aldine Tucker, Jr

April 7, 1943-May 16, 2022

Clinton Tucker was born in Charleston, South Carolina, to Clinton Tucker, Sr, and Wynelle Tucker during World War II. Clint grew up in Macon, Georgia, and attended Willingham High School where he was a devoted Ram. During his senior year he made the winning touchdown against cross-town archrival, Lanier High. Clint was an honor graduate, senior superlative, and lettered in three sports, football, track, and baseball.

Clint majored in Civil Engineering at Georgia Tech and was a co-op student with Ga Power. After graduation he entered the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era. He was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base near our nation’s capital and at Kotzebue Air Station Alaska, as base civil engineer. He kept in touch with members of his squadron who would get together every few years to talk about old times. His fellow officers called him the consummate Christian southern gentleman.

After serving in the Air Force, Clint returned to Atlanta, GA to work again at Georgia Power (Southern Co.) and enjoyed a 33-year career in the engineering department.

This very humble man was proud to be named GA Power Engineer of the Year in 1982. Never one to be idle, once he retired from Southern Co., he owned a home inspection business for a decade with the Amerispec franchise.

Clint was a Christ follower, a life-long Baptist, for the last 20 years a member of Johns Creek Baptist Church in Alpharetta. He was a member of the Haywood Community and was a devoted member of the Tuesday men’s Bible study, where he delighted in participating in mission activities.

Clint was preceded in death by his parents and by his infant niece, Sherry. He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Patricia. He was so proud of his son, Scott (Laura) and his daughter, Kristi Messer (Christopher). But the delights of his heart were his five grandchildren, Ethan, Caleb, Faith, Jackson and Tucker. He treasured his siblings, Ed Tucker (Vickie), Angie Covington (Mark), Florie Tucker and her adopted daughter Sarah, and Liz Bradshaw (Tony). He enjoyed his brother-in-law Steve Joiner, who grew up with this group. Clint loved getting together with special nieces and nephews and in-laws and special friends. All enriched his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Johns Creek Baptist Church on June 11, on what would have been his and Trisha’s 56th wedding anniversary. The service will be in the JCBC Sanctuary at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow in the Heritage Room. Memorial donations may be made to Johns Creek Baptist Church missions, or the American Heart Association. Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel 770-945-6924 Share memories of Clint at hamiltonmillchapel.com
