On Friday morning, May 20, our beloved sister, Sammie, went home to be with the Lord. Sammie was a truly talented individual with a great sense of humor.
A daughter of the late L.P. McNeal, Jr and the late Margaret Hulsey McNeal, Sammie grew up in the Gainesville Mill Village, and explored many different career opportunities. She graduated from Gainesville High School, and also from the University of Georgia with a master’s degree in Romance Languages. She spent time working with the Paul Revere Insurance Company, H & R Block and various restaurants in our area.
Sammie met and married the love of her life, Howard Goode. She spent many years doing what she truly loved most, serving people. Her passion for others was felt by many. Sammie always had a smile and words of wisdom for those she loved. Our lives were deeply touched by her presence, and her absence will be felt by all those who held her dear to their hearts.
In addition to her parents, Sammie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Goode and mother in law, Elsa Goode.
A private family memorial service will be held.
She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed. Sammie is survived by her Sisters and brothers in law, Julie and David Aaron of Gainesville, Gay and Vern Callahan of Cleveland, Margie and Todd Reed of Gainesville; niece and husband, Heather (Lija) Farr of Gainesville; nephews and wives, Matt (Ashley) Reed of Gainesville, Jeremiah (Samantha) Reed of Winder, Eddie Callahan of Gainesville; uncle and aunt, Michael and Lynn Hulsey of Gainesville; great nephews, Levi Farr of Gainesville, Deacon Farr of Gainesville, Jonah Reed of Gainesville; great niece, Isla Reed of Gainesville; great nephew, Noah Reed of Winder; stepdaughters, Nadine and Shani of Margate, England and a great number of cherished cousins and friends.
