Walter "Vernon" Tomlin, Jr.

Obituary Date: Thursday, May 19, 2022

Mr. Walter “Vernon” Tomlin, Jr. age 74 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at New Horizon’s Nursing Home following an extended illness.       

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2022 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Vernon’s brother, Rudy Tomlin will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Monday, May 23, 2022 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon, prior to the service, at the funeral home.         

Mr. Tomlin was born April 7, 1948 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Walter Vernon Tomlin, Sr. and Camie Lea Dover Britt.  He was retired from SKF as a machine operator and was of the Baptist faith.  Vernon proudly served in the U S Army during the Vietnam War and was preceded in death by his parents and his little niece, Missi Wilson.      

Mr. Tomlin is survived by his daughters, Lynn Tomlin of Gainesville and Lea (Gene) Joy of Gainesville, siblings, Rudy (Debra) Tomlin of Gainesville, Cheryl Tomlin Bailey of Flowery Branch and Bennie (Lisa) Britt of Oakwood.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
