Chief Roy Franklin (Frank) Hooper. Jr.

Obituary Date: Monday, May 16, 2022

Chief Roy Franklin (Frank) Hooper, Jr., 64, of Gainesville, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Darryl Womack will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on November 8, 1957 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Roy Franklin Hooper, Sr. and the late Lorene Parker Hooper. Chief Hooper retired from the Gainesville Police Department in 2009 after 32 years of dedicated and faithful service, retiring as the Police Chief.

Chief Hooper was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Chief Hooper is survived by his wife, Teresa Lynn Mote Hooper of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, Justin and Camille Hooper of Bogart; son, Cody Hooper of Gainesville; grandchildren, Georgia Hooper, Kacey Hooper, Parker Hooper, Alice Katherine Hooper, Lily Hooper; sister in law, Dianne Mote Dale of Gainesville; special cousin, Regina Morrow of Gainesville; bonus son, Brandon Morrow of Jefferson; brother in law, Gary Edge of Alto; special nieces, Robin Dale Harris of Gainesville, Whitney Dale Thrasher of Jefferson; nephew, Eric Baggett and wife Heather and a number of other loving relatives.
