Gregory Kent Hawes was born to Helen Thomas and the late James C. Hawes Sr. in Gainesville, Ga on December 30, 1959. Gregory departed this life on May 6, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Kent attended East Hall High School and worked at King’s Hawaiian for many years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist church. Kent loved people and loved to have a good time. One of his main hobbies was shooting pool.
Gregory was preceded by his father James C. Hawes Sr. and his grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his Fiancé Annie Austin, mother Ms. Helen Thomas, one brother James (Jennifer) Hawes all of Gainesville, Ga. His children Rico Hawes, Justin (Tonya) Hawes, Kendra (Paul) Merck, 9 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The visitation will be held Thursday May 12th between the hours of 12-8pm at Wimberly Funeral Home. Mr. Hawes' Celebration of Life will be held Friday May 13th at the hour of 2pm at Antioch Baptist Church. Professional Service Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
