Robert Stanley Hurst

Robert Stanley Hurst, age 66, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Mr. Hurst was born on November 8, 1955, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Andrew Calvin Hurst, Jr. and Mary Maxine Leggett Hurst.  Stanley was a retired crane operator and spent 6 years working for Nassau County police department.  Later he opened Hurst BBQ in Elijay, Georgia.  In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his son, Jerrod Thrift; and brothers, Freddy Hurst, Andrew Calvin Hurst, Jr. (Sonny), Charles Jackson Hurst (Jack), Gordon Arthur Hurst, and Kenneth Edward Hurst (Kenny).

Survivors include his wife, Selena Hurst; son, Barrett Thrift; daughter, Kelly Hurst Gilliard and husband, Jesse Gilliard; granddaughters, Kayla Mae, Serenity Cogburn, Elizabeth Cogburn, and Olivia Gilliard; brother, Harry P. Hurst; sister, Joyce Elizabeth Hurst Smith (Henry); along with several nieces, nephews, and additional relatives and many friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 6, 2022, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home.  The Rev. Jessie Gilliard and the Rev. Lee Bean will officiate.  Interment will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
