Roger Lanier Stephens, Jr., 63, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at his residence.
Born November 21, 1958, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Lanier was kind, humble, and would do anything to help others. An extremely hard worker, he was formerly employed at Byrd & Stephens Building Supply, The Land of Carpet, Parks Lumber Company and Glazing Rubber Products. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A member of Bethel United Methodist Church, he was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Vaudell Burt Stephens; father, Roger L. Stephens, Sr.; and brother, Christopher “Chris” Stephens.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters and son in law, Brandie and Chris Thornhill, Cornelia, Amy Stephens, Ball Ground; sisters and brothers in law, Sharon and Randy Allen, Gainesville, Katrina and Keith Holbrook, Dawsonville, Mellony and Cliff Peck, Dawsonville; stepmother, Marjorie Stephens, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Jae Staton, Soren Staton, Luke Thornhill, Ella Thornhill; and a number of other relatives.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 1 o’clock at Bethel United Methodist Church. Dr. David Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.
