Bonnie Eddie Gene Samples, a lifelong resident of Cumming, GA passed away peacefully Tuesday April 26th, 2022 at the age of 89. He was born May 23, 1932 in Cumming, GA to the late Manuel and Ina Samples. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life Evia Lou Samples, his 3 brothers Theado, Leon & Stephen Samples and his 4 sisters Martha Sorrells, Mildred Pirkle, Lee Clara Bagby and Elizabeth Bailey.
It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you the day God took you home.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, his childhood sweetheart. They were blessed for 23 years. He is survived by his three sons Glenn Samples (Carol) of Talking Rock, GA; Gary Samples (Deborah) of Cumming, GA; Chris Samples (Sissie) of Hartwell, GA and beloved daughter Theresa Lewis (Wayne) of Cumming, GA. He was also a step father to Don Frazier (Wendy) of Dahlonega, GA and Dana Hood of Buford, GA. All together he was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is survived by his 3 siblings Charles Samples (Melinda); Roger Samples (Doris) and Eria Thompson (Wendell) all of Cumming, GA.
Eddie had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ which impacted his entire life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, caregiver and friend. He was saved and baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church. At the age of 18 he was drafted by the Army and served 2 years during the Korean War. Later he worked for Coca Cola and retired after 38 years. He was well known in the area as a dog trainer. His greatest enjoyments were planting his garden, running his sawmill, carpentry, fishing and hunting. Eddie had a servant's heart and was involved in many groups throughout his life. He was honored to be involved in the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard for many years. He was a part of the Bible Seeker Sunday School (Bible Life Group) and Super Senior Group. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Byrd, Mr. Jim Phillips and Rev. Kevin Thompson officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
