Edward Roscoe Breedlove

Obituary Date: Thursday, April 14, 2022

Edward Roscoe Breedlove, age 87, of Sugar Hill, GA passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022. He was preceded in death by parents, Forrest and Ruby Breedlove; father and mother-in-law, Otis and Pearl Davis; brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Frieda Breedlove; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dolphus and Christine Davis, Olwen and Meareal Bagley, Jack Herrington, Grady Howington; nephew, Chris Herrington; and niece, Wilma Price. Mr. Breedlove is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Genevieve Davis Breedlove; children, Keith and Suzan Breedlove, Barry Breedlove, Cyndee and Ronnie Gullett; grandchildren, Whitney and Matt Parent, Erin and Jeffrey Stokey, Blake Breedlove, Erica and Ryan Chitwood; great grandchildren, Lindsey, Hayden and Carson Stokey, Austin and Walker Chitwood, Laurel and Lawson Parent; sister, Bernie Breedlove Howington; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Mildred Breedlove; sister-in-law, Verlon Davis Herrington, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Lunell Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward Breedlove led an amazing life. He married his high school sweetheart, Genevieve Davis, when they were both 18 years old. Over the years, Edward worked at Lockheed, sold insurance door to door, then started an insulation business. From there he went on to be a successful businessman in the field of commercial real estate. Edward was a very generous man. He donated land for churches, supported numerous children’s programs and helped out his fellow man wherever he saw a need. There have been donations of wheelchairs, tires for cars, and horses given to colleges, just to name a few. He never let on when he was making said donations. He wasn’t in it for the accolades and acknowledgements. He did these things out of the goodness of his heart and his willingness to share with other people. Over the past 60 years, Edward has been a successful horseman, winning over 25 World Grand Championships and World Championships on his Tennessee Walking Horses. He has contributed greatly to the Walking Horse community and will be missed. Edward enjoyed riding his motorcycles and has made over a dozen cross country trips on his Harley. One of the most memorable was the trip to Sturgis, South Dakota with his son, Keith, son-in-law, Ronnie and brother-in-law, Meareal. Their adventures along the way could fill a book! He enjoyed riding to Bike Week and Biketober Fest in Daytona, and has missed going only two times over the past 50 years. Edward also ventured south for the Daytona 500 and many other races. He was an avid fan of Nascar and when he couldn’t attend the races, he was watching on television with Genevieve. Another love of Edward’s was music, especially Country music, Bluegrass and Gospel. He made numerous trips to the Grand Ole Opry, sometimes without a ticket! However, he was always given a seat, usually at the front, so he could enjoy the music. He was also a regular at the Everetts, in Suwanee, where he loved to listen to them play Bluegrass music. Edward was a Christian man of the Methodist faith. He was a long time member of Sugar Hill United Methodist Church. He loved his Lord and his family. He was a kind and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Edward loved life and lived it to the fullest. He never met a stranger, and was a friend to everyone he came in contact with. He touched many lives and encouraged everyone to be the best they could possibly be. He leaves behind a void that will not be filled and he will be remembered with love and admiration. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Church on the Hill (aka Sugar Hill UMC) with Rev. Steve Wood and Pastor Jeff Coleman officiating. Mr. Breedlove will lie in state at the church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 18 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
