Beverly J. Barthell

Obituary Date: Monday, April 11, 2022

Mrs. Beverly J.Barthell was born a blessing to the Late Mr. Royal Bussey & the Late Ms.Betty Hunt Bussey in Cleveland, Ohio on February 6, 1957. Her parents she idol in life. She was known as Mrs. B, Travel Mrs. B, Grandma, Auntie, Deaconess Barthell to all who had the blessing to pass through her life. She wore many hats but the hat she loved the best was serving God. She accepted Christ at the age of 10 at Starlight Bapt Church in Cleveland Ohio, where she served immediately as a Candy Stripe then upon growing in Christ she became the President of the Adult Nurses Guild and taught children Sunday school. After relocating to Atlanta Ga, she immediately engaged to unite with with Hunter Hill First Missionary Baptist Church of Atlanta, Ga. Hunter Hill Baptist Church was her love, she began her journey their serving on the Courtesy Guild, Kitchen cuisine ministry, Director of the Youth Ministry, Sunday school teacher, Wednesday Night Live Bible Study teacher, Senior Ministry Coordinator and Deaconess Ministry President for many years. She was a true servant of God at HHBC and outside of HHBC, it was her passion to walk like Christ. She graduated from John Adam High School in Cleveland, Ohio and attended The Institute of Computer Management upon graduation she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in Computer's Management. She then pursued her education at Cuyahoga Community College upon her completion she worked at St. Timothy elementary school as a substitute teacher and obtained her Real Estate License working diligent with Century 21. She did not sit still she continued her education at Clayton State University then pursued her education at ACT where she graduated in Travel, Hotel, Car Rental Management where she then landed her happiness as a Travel Agent. Beverly worked 15 years at Jones & Laughlin Steel in Cleveland Ohio as a recorder operator. She later worked at U.P. S for 28 years, where she worked as a Line flight Admin, International Admin, Customer Service Admin, and finally upon her retirement as a Feeder Admin. Her love was serving God and people. Her passion was her family, a wife, a mother, a grandmother and friend to many. She always made time to reach out and help others in need her heart was of giving. Her joy was traveling this world with many groups especially her World Travelers Group she enjoyed taking time with Senior Citizens. Some of her travels included, USA, Canada, Alaska, Eastern & Western Mediterranean, Spain , France, Italy, turkey, Greece, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Russia, Germany, Caribbean Islands and many many more. A woman of God, a Lady of virtue, grace, full of compassion, unconditional love and grateful for everything life had for her. She was definitely the Matriarch of our family. What she would want everyone to remember about her is that she love and appreciated the life God gave her and to always help each other in need. Her love of life was being married to her husband of 38 years Mr. Johnny B. Barthell Jr who preceded her in transition of this life. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her first born, her heart, a loving, and compassionate daughter Shahidha J Pates of Stockbridge Ga, daughters Shawn (Charles) Harrison-Muff,of Richland Ga. Vanessa (John) Ndisika of Atlanta Ga, Ms. Deirdra Barthell of Americas Ga. Okiesa, two loving, compassionate, wonderful men her sons DeQuan B. Barthell of Seattle, WA, Johnny B. Barthell Ill of Villa Rica Ga. and her God given son/nephew Randy Barthell Forbes of Jonesboro, GA . The apple of her eyes, her grandchildren Deja Barthell, Dene Barthell, Dakarai Pates, Bryanne Barthell, and Saadiyah Pates, Alexander, Paige and Gabriella. Her adored grandchildren JC, Skyla, Allan, Jamie, Lake, two Godsons Terrence & Tywan Moultry of Loganville, Ga. Three God daughters Audrey Tell, Kelsey Jones and Tanya Bell. Her loving and supportive sister in laws Mrs. Frances(Walter)Manners, Mrs. Minne(Elder Bennie )Clark, Mrs. Gloria(Willie)English, Mrs. Clara(Karzell) Robinson, Mrs. Marsha(Rev. Robert)Angrish, and Ms. Trellis Barthell and one loving brother in law Mr. Gregory Barthell. Gracious God mother Mrs. Ethel Tigner, two God sisters Gwendolyn Tigner and Mary C. Watkins. A host of aunts, one uncle, cousins, extended children, nieces, and nephews, many sorrowing relatives and friends. The visitation will be held Friday, April 22nd between the hours of 5-8pm at Hunter Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Barthell's Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 23rd at the hour of 11am located at Hunter Hill Baptist Church.
