Donald Sampson Smith Sr., 99, of Clermont, Ga. died on Monday, April 11, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at W. R. Strickland & Sons Chapel, Clermont, Ga. Reverend Jeremy Hoffsinger and Reverend Isaac Cooper will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Smith was a Veteran of World War II, and retired from the U.S.D.A. He was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a lifelong avid gardener. Mr. Smith was born and lived in Clermont, Ga. all his life and loved his family and all of his children very much.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife Lorena Free Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Mr. Donald "Sammy" Smith Jr. (Shirley), Mrs. Jackie Smith (Larry), Mr. Tommy Smith (Joanne), and Mr. Doug Smith (Deborah); by his grandchildren, Kim Parks (Jim), Mark Smith (Lisa) Erica Cooper (Scott), Tara Ballard (Stan), Mike Smith (Jan), Scott Smith (Susan) Katelyn Smith; 13 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
