Wanda Jean Allison Whisner

Obituary Date: Tuesday, April 5, 2022

Wanda Jean Allison Whisner, age 68, born in Chestnut Mountain,Georgia, received an unexpected promotion to Heaven on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 after an extended illness. She was known for her wildly entertaining nature and her ability to relate to anyone she ever met. To all who deeply miss her, she would undoubtedly suggest that we live our lives with joy.

Wanda is survived by her loving family including her husband, John Whisner; her son Jonathan Milton; her daughter Rachel Milton; her granddaughter Natalie Milton; her grandson Neil Milton (Lubbock, Texas); her parents, Dilmous and Rita Allison; her sisters, Jenny Allison and Teresa Cockerham; her nephew Jeffrey Cockerham; and her niece Katie Cockerham (Chestnut Mountain, Georgia), as well as extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.

All who crossed her path will remember Wanda’s colorful personality, as well as her love of fashion. Her style brought delight to everyone. Her favorite pastimes included cheering on "Wild Wookiee” Rachel at her roller derby bouts, attending any and all activities that her children and grandchildren were involved in, dancing like everybody was watching, and singing her way through life. She loved to entertain and to make people laugh.

Her many internet friends will fondly recall her YouTube video channel where she excitedly shared her Dollar Tree hauls, often showcasing her latest finds, including all things mermaid and unicorn, and anything sparkly or shiny.

Wanda loved her family, friends and co-workers very much, and her favorite times were spent with them dancing, telling outrageous stories, and breaking out in song or dance whenever the spirit moved her.

Undoubtedly, Wanda is now dancing and singing with the angels in Heaven. Wanda was the kindest, most hilarious, and dearest soul you would ever want to meet, and those of us who were fortunate enough to call her family or friend were truly blessed by her presence. If you would like to honor Wanda’s legacy, please consider donating to an organization that was near and dear to her heart, Burkhart Center for Autism Education and Research at Texas Tech University.
