Dr. Ralph Eugene Reed

Dr. Ralph Eugene Reed, age 86 of Toccoa passed away Tuesday, April 5th at his home.  He loved God, he loved his family, and he loved his country.

The son of late Clarence and Eleanor Reed, he was born December 23, 1935 in Miami, Florida.  After growing up in Miami he joined the U.S. Navy and was a flight surgeon on an aircraft carrier during the Vietnam conflict, later rising to the rank of Captain in the Navy Reserves.  He moved to Toccoa in 1976 and was an ophthalmologist until his retirement. 

Survivors include his wife Marcy Bosworth Reed of the home; children Connie Reed Hamilton, Ralph, Jr. Reed and Wesley Reed; sister, Martha Reed Diliberto of Jacksonville, Florida; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

Funeral service will be Wednesday,  April13, 2022, 3 o’clock p.m. at  Toccoa First United Methodist Cheek Hall, 333 E. Tugalo Street, Toccoa, 30577 with Pastor Brent White officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Ralph E. Reed, Jr., Wesley Reed, Ralph E. Reed, III, Christopher Reed, Kristian Panacheda and Rich Polson.

The family will receive friends at the Toccoa First United Methodist Cheek Hall from 1:30 p.m. until the service time at 3 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

The family will have a private interment at Stephens Memorial Gardens with Pastor Brent White officiating and Military Honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard.
