James Franklin Smith

Mr. James Franklin Smith, age 76 of Murphy Hill Drive, Westminster, South Carolina passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022 at his residence. 

A son of the late Roy Thomas Smith and Jessie Cox Smith, he was born October 3, 1945 in Stephens County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Oconee County, South Carolina.  He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway with 32 years of service.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Jean Phillips Smith; two sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Smith of Toccoa and Dennis and Bridget Smith of Westminster, South Carolina; grandchildren, T.J. and Kelly Smith, Dusty and Ashley Smith, Dylan and Megan Smith, Ethan and Courtney Smith, Ariel and Blake Hare and Faith and Austin Satterfield; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Smith of Senoia, Georgia; three sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn Murphy and Evelyn Phillips both of Westminster, South Carolina and Nancy and Johnny Lathan of Toccoa.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 8, 2022, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Timmy Griffin officiating.  The follow gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Terry Smith, Dennis Smith, T.J. Smith, Dusty Smith, Dylan Smith, Ethan Smith, Blake Hare and Austin Satterfield.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Franklin Smith.
