Mr. Calvin Jackson Black, age 74 of Mize Road, Toccoa passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at his residence.
A son of the late Jack Black and Beatrice Pless Black, he was born January 26, 1947 in Elbert County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was the owner/operator of the Deluxe Sportsman Club for 34 years and was a brick mason by trade. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family, fishing and billiards and was a friend to so many and loved by so many. He was of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary R. Banks Black, by a son, Calvin “Junior” Black and by a grandson, Anthony Holbrook.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Holbrook of Toccoa and Teresa Black of Athens; two sons, Steve Black and Andrea Allen of Toccoa and Ken Black of Brooksville, Florida; caretaker and granddaughter, Amanda Shackleford; other grandchildren, Rex Holbrook, Jr., Jonda and Daniel Figueroa and Jesup, Chayce, Addie and Gatlin Black; great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Kena Byargeon, Jaliyah Jones, Brayden and Mila Figueroa and, N’Vaeh, Mckinleigh and Axton Trotter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dent and Judy Black of Canon, Daniel and Tina Black of Bowersville and Robert Black of Athens; sister, Margaret “Boogy” Bohannon of Gumlog.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 2, 2022, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Jesup Black, Chayce Black, Gatlin Black, Richard Garner, Stacy Pulliam, Denver Carey and Lee Dunagan.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until the service time. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will be in the Gaines Chapel Cemetery, Hartwell, Georgia with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Calvin Jackson Black.
