On March 27, 2022, Janie Davis rested peacefully in the arms of Jesus as her battle with cancer ended.
Janie, born on December 17, 1958, lived her life as a true servant. A bold soul with a selfless heart, she was an avid adventurer and a seasoned traveler. She was the epitome of an independent woman: a seamstress and a baker, a relentless creative, and conveniently, a problem-solver who could figure out or fix most anything on-the-fly. Janie cared for others often and well, earning the nickname “Gypsy Nana” as she would quickly pack up and go wherever she was needed most. To know her was to love her, and the community she surrounded herself with is living proof.
Janie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Brooke and Brian Buffington of Clarkesville, Georgia, and Bridgett and Shon Coleman of Warner Robins, Georgia; her grandchildren, Jet, Elle, Faythe, Cody, and Sadie Jo; her brothers Jeffrey and Joey, and her sister, Paula. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julean Tyre and Joseph Wilson Butler, Jr.
It seems quite fitting that Janie would be traveling through the state this week. . .
The family will host a visitation in North Georgia at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville on Tuesday, March 29th, from 5-7pm.
On Thursday, March 31st, the family will receive friends at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Georgia, beginning at 1pm, followed by an outdoor service at Axson Cemetery (weather permitting) at 3pm.
In honor of Janie’s love for the beach, we encourage you to consider dressing as summery and beachy as you’d like for her service(s). If you would like to make a donation to Hospice of NGMC in lieu of flowers, we know she would deeply approve.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at HillsideMemorialChapel.com or at RelihanFuneralHome.com.
Arrangements by Hillside Memorial Chapel, Clarkesville and Relihan Funeral Home, Pearson.
