Sherry Evelyn Elrod Godfrey

Obituary Date: Thursday, March 24, 2022

Mrs. Sherry Evelyn Elrod Godfrey, age 74, of Crawford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 24, 2022.  Mrs. Godfrey was born in Buford to the late, Marvin and Katie Cantrell Elrod.  Mrs. Godfrey was a supervisor for 27 years at Superior Pants.  She then went on to work 16 years and retired from the Oglethorpe County School System Nutrition Department.  She was a member of Freedom Church of God and was the biggest supporter of her kids and grandkids.  Many learned the hard way not to mess with her husband and kids at the dirt tracks.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Godfrey was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald and Harry Elrod; and son-in-law Jerome Bradshaw.

Mrs. Godfrey is survived by her husband, Gary Godfrey; daughter, Lisa Bradshaw (Ron Smith); son, Mitchell Godfrey (Leah); grandkids, Duston Bradshaw (Samantha), Kriston Bryant (Brandon), Sarah Price (Skyler), Auston Godfrey, Leanna Smith (Dakota), and Blake Smith; great grandkids, Braxton Fouche, Chandler Bradshaw, Landon Bradshaw, Cole Bryant, Sidney Bryant, Carson Price, Grayson Price, and Clarklan Smith; siblings, Gayle Green, Randy Elrod, Stevie Elrod, Vickie Cole, Janet Andrews, and Angie Bradshaw; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and children that adopted her as “Maw Maw”.

She is already missed by everyone who loved her, but she is dancing the streets of gold and the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Proverbs 31:29-31 NIV.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 27th at 3 PM from Freedom Church of God with Pastor Danny Henderson and Pastor Tim Garrett officiating with the interment following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 5-7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donation made to Freedom Church of God.
