Dolores Day Richardson, 89 of Gainesville, Ga. passed on to heaven, Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at her home in her beloved Cresswind community.
Born on January 26th, 1933, in Morris, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Gordon William Telfer and Evelyn Reinholdt Telfer. After graduating from Morris High School, she attended Kendall College in Chicago, Illinois. She was a devoted wife to her husband Reverend Ben F. Day. The wife of a minister carries many responsibilities which she fulfilled with unparalleled grace. She and Ben served many communities in northern Illinois, including Channahon, Frankfort, Joliet, Rockford, Glen Ellen and Wauconda. In 1971 she joined the Wauconda National Bank as a teller and rose to become Vice President of Human Resources retiring in 1995. They were married for 35 years until his untimely death in 1987.
Upon retirement, she and her mother Evelyn Telfer moved to Fairplay, S.C. where she became a member of Lavonia United Methodist Church. They enjoyed many years on Lake Hartwell which created countless memories for her children and grandchildren. After Evelyn’s death she married W.C. Richardson (Rick). Rick and Dolores built a home in Seneca, S.C., where she joined St. Marks Methodist Church. Upon Rick’s death she moved to Gainesville, Ga. to be closer to her family. While living in the Cresswind community, she was chairperson of the CARE committee, an avid card player, exercise enthusiast, passionate gardener, and peerless baker.
Dolores is survived by her children, Deborah Day Fawaz (Dan), David Day (Cindy) and Shannon Richardson; her grandchildren, Chad Troline (Heather), Alexander Fawaz, Graham Troline, Danielle Fawaz Holland (Ryan); and great granddaughters, Monroe and Lennon Troline.
The family will receive friends at Memorial Park South Funeral Home, 4121 Falcon Parkway, Flowery Branch, Ga. 30542 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. on Saturday, April 9th, 2022. The Memorial Service will be held there at 2:00 pm., where Reverend Sandra Skinner will be officiating.
