Jeanne L Hanlin, 70, of Braselton Ga formerly of Altoona Pa passed away, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, after a long battle with ALS. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Ray and Martha Anderson. She also was proceeded in death by her in laws, James (JJ) and Anastasia Hanlin.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Terry, the love of her life. She always said he fell out of the heavens. She is also survived by Paul (the best brother ever) and wife Diane Anderson of Williamsport Pa. Jeanne also is survived by nephews Mark, Michael, Matt and Alex, and a niece Melissa. Jeanne also was blessed with 12 great nieces and nephews. \
Jeanne was a graduate of Altoona Area High School class of 1969 and Penn State University where she was a lifetime member of the Alumni Association.
Jeanne retired twice, once from Easter Seals Central Pa/Home Nursing Agency and in 2019 from Watkins Total Healthcare in Gainesville Ga. Jeanne devoted most of her life to service above self which included serving on the boards of Rotary Club of Altoona and the Rotary Club of Gainesville Ga. In Altoona she served as the first woman President of Rotary and in Gainesville as Treasurer. In Blair County Jeanne also served on the Chamber of Congress board, the United Way Board, Blair county Arts Foundation, the Health and Welfare Council and the Victim Witness Board. In Gainesville Jeanne served on the Rotary Board, the United Way Board, Open Doors, The Georgia Mountain YMCA Board and Gainesville State College Board. Jeanne spent years in her career assuring people with disabilities they had possibilities. Her career included working for the County of Blair as the first Human Services Director Easter Seals Central Pa, Home Nursing Agency and Watkins Total Healthcare.
Jeanne was active with community theater in Altoona not only on stage but also music director of Annie. She also was blessed with many awards including the Athena Award, the American Business Woman's Award, the International Rotary Service Award and The Sidney O Smith Rotary Service Award.
Above all Jeanne was blessed with many friends and family who stayed with her throughout her illness. She also had a special caregiver in her life, Teela Westman, who also became part of her family.
At Jeanne's request contributions be made to The Blair County Arts Foundation/Mishler Theater 1212 12th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601, animal shelters in your community and the Georgia Mountains YMCA, 2455 YMCA Drive, Gainesville GA 30501 Jeanne also asks that people pay it forward to make lives better for those less fortunate.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, March 25, 2022 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.
