Mearl (Leon) Hunt

Mr. Mearl (Leon) Hunt, 90, of Gainesville, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Brown and Rev. Clyde Self will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on June 15, 1931 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Lewis and Rubye Allison Hunt. He was retired from the painting industry where he owned his own business. Mr. Hunt was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church.

He was a loving father and papa who was married to his best friend. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald Hunt and Terry Hunt.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife of 74 years, Sarah Hunt of Gainesville; daughter and son in law, Shirley and David Santaniello of Flowery Branch; son, Donald Leon Hunt of Gainesville; granddaughter, Leanne Bell (Chad) of Buford; grandson, Chris Hunt (Dawn) of Gainesville; great-grandchildren, Hunter Bell, Hartley Bell, Sydney Hunt, Ben Hunt, Haley Hunt, Cole Hunt and a number of other loving relatives.
