James Burt Miskimen, 79 of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Northside Hospital Forsyth, Cumming, GA. He was born in Columbus, OH, to the late Burt and Betty Miskimen. He was a Captain in the US Air Force where he worked for the Armed Forces Radio and Television in Portsmouth, NH, Thule, Greenland and Tachikawa, Japan. He taught communications at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. He was the manager of the University Public Radio Stations at both James Madison University (WMRA) and Northern Michigan University (WNMU). After retiring he had a love for traveling the world. He also had a great love for trains, so much that he became a secret rider for Amtrak where he would rate their customer service.
He was preceded in death by his life partner, Charles Robert McCullough.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Miskimen Kooken of Tucker, GA; grandson, Joey Kooken of Tucker, GA; brother, Robert Alan Miskimen of Florida; sister Pattiann Miskimen Moore (Bruce) of Ohio, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
