Gayle Marie Cook, age 84, of Dahlonega, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
Gayle was born on November 15, 1937, in Elmira, New York to the late Milford and Myra Whiteman. Gayle had a lovely childhood and enjoyed an early career working for Eastern Airlines. On August 3, 1967, she married Edwin Cook and they were married for more than 50 years before Ed passed away on January 2, 2019.
Gayle is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Ann Cook, Son and Daughter-in-law Matthew and Erin Cook, Grandson and Granddaughter-in-law Justin and Evie Cook, Grandson Hunter Cook, and Grandson Hayden Cook and one Sister Joann Mayes of North Carolina.
Gayle was most proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She was a loving Mema who enjoyed spending time with her boys and watching them grow. The family were members of The R Ranch in Dahlonega for many years and Gayle often bragged that they had one of the first numbers issued as their membership number. Gayle had a passion for flowers and was often found outside admiring the flowers she had planted in her garden. Gayle was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland and enjoyed her time singing in the choir. Earlier in the week, Gayle said how she wanted to see one last snow fall and on Saturday before He called her home, God obliged. One of her favorite hymns was “When we all get to Heaven” and we are sure that when she got there, Ed had a one of his huge hugs waiting for her.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 19th at 11:00 am. Family will receive guests beginning at 10:00 am at Barrett’s Funeral Home in Cleveland Ga.
