Bruce Wayne Lewis

Obituary Date: Thursday, March 10, 2022

Bruce Wayne Lewis passed away on March 4, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. Bruce was a real estate agent and operated his own mold remediation company. He loved working with people.

The beautiful mountains of North Georgia, including Dahlonega, Helen, and Lake Burton, were his favorite retreats. When Bruce's oldest children were young, he enjoyed annual trips to Amelia Island. It was there that he liked to casually display his gymnastics skills on the front lawn of his hotel. He also enjoyed vacationing in Jamaica, where he became scuba certified. Some of his most cherished memories include a cruise to Alaska and numerous trips to Mexico and the Caribbean. Bruce swam with the dolphins in the Grand Cayman Islands and petted stingrays in their Stingray City. Bruce explored Mayan ruins such as Chichen Itza in Mexico and the Lamanai ruins in Belize. Bruce loved to watch the sunsets from his new property in Dahlonega.

Most people describe Bruce as extremely friendly with a personality that could put anyone at ease. His charm was his best asset, as well as his wonderful voice and dazzling smile. He was an incredibly loving man and a devoted husband and father. He made friends everywhere he went and was loved by all who knew him.

He was born on May 30, 1959. He attended Henderson High School, where he excelled in his studies. He attended the University of Georgia on a full gymnastics’ scholarship. He graduated in 1981 with a dual degree in Accounting and Education. He then taught Business classes until he and his brother Gary started their own textile mill.

Bruce is preceded in death by his father Charles Dee Lewis, Jr. in 1992 and his mother Jacqueline Anderson Griffeth in 2012. Bruce is also preceded in death by his stepfather Jim Griffeth in 2009.

Bruce Lewis is survived by his daughter Christina Lewis Howington (husband John Howington) and their two children William Lewis Howington and Nelson Reid Howington. They reside in Dunwoody, Georgia.

Bruce is survived by his son Landon Reid Lewis of Marietta, Georgia, his stepson William Austin Fraser of Rome, Georgia, his stepdaughter Arden Evangeline Fraser of Dahlonega, Georgia, and his loving partner and former spouse Belinda Sweet Lewis of Dahlonega, Georgia.

Bruce was hopelessly devoted to his special needs son Anderson Samuel Lewis who also resides in Dahlonega, GA.

Bruce is also survived by his first wife Martha Chisholm Lewis and his two living brothers Gary Lewis who resides in Boone, North Carolina, and Craig Lewis (wife Jackie Lewis) who resides in Gainesville, Georgia. Bruce also has a living sister Linda Lewis Yates (husband Ray Yates) who also resides in Gainesville, Georgia.

Bruce was very proud of his entire family. He departed this life in peace and grace.
