Janet Leona Robertson journeyed home to the arms of the Lord on Friday, February 25th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, William G Glisson and Edmonia Ward Glisson, her older brother Ira Goodwin Glisson, and her husband, Victor Joel Robertson.
Janet Glisson was born on December 6th, 1946 in Griffin, GA. She met the love of her life Joel Robertson and the two married in 1967 at Rehobeth Baptist Church. Out of that marriage they had two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Robertson (Baggett) and Vanessa Lynn Robertson (Algiere).
Janet grew up in Griffin, GA. She was very close to her family and could be found most days shadowing her older brother Goodwin. Her family later moved to Atlanta where she attended Briarcliff High School. She moved back to her hometown where she was introduced by her mother to a manager at the local A&P. That man was Joel Robertson. The two began dating soon after. Joel even bought a horse to impress her. His riding skills were lacking, but his charm was not. They fell in love and were married for 54 years. The first year of marriage brought many changes to her life including a move to Birmingham, Alabama and the birth of their oldest daughter, Kimberly Dawn. Joel's job moved them to many different states throughout the years. Along the way they made many dear friends and created many close bonds. Janet moved back to Georgia where their second daughter Vanessa was born. Janet was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She was the glue that held her family together. She was a devoted mother and held a very special bond with each of her daughters. Her love was unfaultering, unconditional and a constant in their lives. Janet later became a grandmother to 3 grandchildren. She was a unique and was generous and spirited in nature.
Janet’s memory and life will live on in her daughters, Kimberly Dawn Baggett and her spouse David Baggett, Vanessa Lynn Robertson-Algiere and Jim Algiere, all of Cumming, Ga, her three Grandchildren Austin Robertson, Michael Baggett and Joshua Baggett, as well as many close friends and family including her beloved dog Bentley.
