Lanny Ray Tribble

Obituary Date: Friday, February 25, 2022

Lanny Ray Tribble, 75, of Atlanta, GA, born 1946, passed away suddenly on February 25th in Dahlonega, GA with his loving wife by his side.

Lanny graduated from Georgia State University with a B.S. in Business Management and a minor in Psychology and went on to enjoy a career in bank consulting and technology.  He also was a partner in a start-up of a bank consulting firm.  He was a financially savvy, team driven, hard-working man who prided himself on always leaving any situation better off than when he started.   Lanny was a forever optimist who frequently reminded us of the importance of staying positive but also modeled it daily.  Throughout his life he played, coached, and was captain of many sports teams, and tennis was his passion.  His love for sports was unmatched.  He was a die-hard Georgia Tech fan, as well as the Atlanta Falcons and Braves, but would cheer on any team that his children or grandchildren were a part of.  Lanny loved the theater, whether it was local or on Broadway and would never miss an opportunity to see “The Jersey Boys” or “Fiddler on the Roof”.  He loved to travel with his wife, family, and friends whether it was cruising, snow-birding in Hawaii, going abroad, exploring areas in the U.S., or just making his way to wherever his grandchildren were participating in any activity.  However, as much as he loved exploring, he cherished his home in Dahlonega that he and his wife built 16 years ago.  At home he enjoyed time with his wife and pups, spending his days reading political thrillers and anything historical, watching sporting events (he loved a good sports pool), preparing for Christmas, visiting with family and friends, and he was always listening to music.  Lanny was an 8-year survivor of a kidney transplant and made the most of his extended time with everyone.

He was a romantic, sensitive, and amazing partner to his wife and soulmate, Barbara Tribble.  He was a dedicated family man who was a proud father of Brian (Juliette) Tribble and Angela (Brian) Mast whom he is survived by.  He also leaves behind his stepdaughter and son-in-law Michelle and Jesse Honda whom he loved as his own, as well as his four grandchildren (Nyala-21, Emma-19, Kaylee-13, Henry-7) and his two pups (Milo and Baylee).  A husband, a father, a grandpa, a coach, a captain, a tennis star, a trivia champion and most importantly a lover of life.  He will be missed by all, but his legacy will live on forever.

A celebration of Lanny’s life will be held March 26, 2022 at the Dahlonega Funeral Home, 20 Gibson Road.  The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 pm. The Celebration of Life service will begin at noon.  All are invited and welcome to celebrate his life with his family.  A zoom option will be available at 12:00 on the funeral home website.  In the spirit of celebrating Lanny please dress nice casual and wear something with red, blue or yellow (those are the only colors he could distinguish?).  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holly Theater in his memory at: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E333713&id=5
