Ernest Paul Stringer

Obituary Date: Wednesday, March 2, 2022

Mr. Ernest Paul Stringer, 90, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully Wednesday March 2, 2022. 

Paul was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County where he attended North Georgia College and was in the Corps of Cadets, on the rifle team and played baseball. After graduating from college, he was commissioned into the 30th Infantry at Fort Benning. In 1954, he was assigned to the 40th Infantry Division in Chorwon, Korea, then reassigned to the 5th Regimental Combat Team in Pusan, Korea. After leaving the Army in 1954, he returned to Dahlonega and joined Bill Towson in the insurance business. In 1959, he married Frankie Kanaday Stringer and they were married 55 years until her death in 2014. He worked in insurance, banking and real estate for 68 years and enjoyed cattle farming, gardening and spending time/working with family.  

Mr. Stringer was preceded in death by a son, Richard Paul Stringer and his wife Frankie K Stringer. He is survived by his son Steven Stringer (Luan), grandson Rhett Stringer (Rachel), granddaughter Rileigh Stringer, their mother Melissa Stringer, great grandson Charlie Paul Stringer and another Stringer boy on the way. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mycki Little, Pat Brackett and Diedra Stephens for caring for him at home, as well as all the staff at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Chelsey Park.

Funeral services will be held Thursday March 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.  The family will receive friends Wednesday March 9, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
