Funeral services for Eloise (Weesie) LeCroy Sosebee, age 98, of Toccoa, will be held February 26th at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church Memorial Chapel with visitation at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens. Eloise passed away peacefully on February 24th at her residence.
She was born on July 13th, 1923 to the late Dewitt LeCroy and Bernice (Big Mama) Williams LeCroy in Carnesville, Georgia.
She was a lifelong resident of Toccoa. She retired from the Department of Family and Children Services after 34 years of dedication. She was awarded the first ever Business Woman of the Year for Toccoa in 1977.
She served her community in many roles as a volunteer; working with Meals on Wheels, Bread Ministry, Food Bank, Pink Ladies at Stephens County Hospital, and a personal card outreach ministry. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and served as treasurer and president of her Sunday school class for many years.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Sosebee Applewhite. She is survived by her son-in-law and friend, Jim Applewhite of Ashburn, Georgia; grandson, Todd Applewhite (Kim) of Chula, Georgia; and granddaughter, Jolie Britt (Frank) of Statesboro, Georgia. Great grandchildren include Abby Calhoun (Rob), Jack Applewhite, Emma Britt, and Carter Britt. She also had a special place in her heart for her extended family, Helen Knox, Laura Scott, Vickie Andrews, and Helen Gilbert. Pallbearers include Frank Britt, Jack Applewhite, Larry Mayfield, Rob Calhoun, and Phil Gruber.
In addition to flowers, donations can also be made to First Baptist Church of Toccoa or Amedisys Hospice Care of Toccoa.
