Ms. Meredith Bowen Brice, 72, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in Gainesville, Georgia.
A daughter of the late Julian and Evelyn Bowen of Toccoa, Georgia, Ms. Brice was born June 3, 1949, in New York, New York and grew up in Toccoa, Georgia. Ms. Brice was a graduate of Piedmont University in Demorest, Georgia, with a degree in education. Upon graduation, she became an elementary school teacher and taught fourth grade in the Dawson and Hall County school systems until the early 1980s. After the birth of her second child, she stayed at home to raise her five children until their adolescence, and then taught preschool in Gainesville until her retirement in 2014.
Ms. Brice was a loyal, dedicated, and loving mother, willing to sacrifice anything for her children. A strong believer and lifelong Baptist, Meredith strived to live by the Word of God every day.
She is survived by her five sons, LTC Dan (McKenzie) Brice of Springfield, Virginia, Joe Brice of Gainesville, Georgia, Mark Brice of Greer, South Carolina, Jake (Isaura) Brice of Gainesville, Georgia, and Josh (Laura) Brice of Lula, Georgia; her grandchildren, Daniel Brice, Christopher Brice, Andrew Brice and Everly Brice; as well as her two brothers, Julian (Susan) Bowen Jr. and Phillip (Carolyn) Bowen.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Acree-Davis Funeral Home in Toccoa, Georgia. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Michael E. Taylor of Central Baptist Church of Gainesville officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Ms. Brice’s grandsons, Daniel, Christopher, and Andrew Brice, her nephew, Scott Bowen, and her great nephews, Evan and Ian Rumsey.
Interment will follow at Toccoa City Cemetery with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Ms. Meredith Bowen Brice.
