Mr. Robert Lee Hewitt, age 68 of Hicks Road, Toccoa passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Stephens County Hospital.
A son of the late James McIver Hewitt and Edith Burrell Hewitt, he was born May 16, 1953 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life. He was retired from Hart EMC with many years of service and later worked with Stephens County Schools for 8 years. He was a member of Tates Creek Baptist Church and Hebron Masonic Lodge #564. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Hewitt, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Martha Thacker Simmons; daughters and son-in-law, Crystal and Michael Rich of Clarkesville, Georgia and Sandi Neil Matson of Houston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Sally Simmons of Toccoa; grandchildren, Tucker Ruhlen, Tanner (Brittany) Ruhlen, Ivy Ruhlen, Gavin Simmons, Emily (Blake) Jones and Hannah Thomas; brother, John Hewitt and Dawsonville, Georgia; three sisters, Shirley Hewitt Bethune, Peggy Hewitt Allen and Toni Hewitt White all of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 25, 2022, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty and The Reverend Roger Whiten officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society Georgia Chapter, 950 East Paces Ferry Road, NE 110, Atlanta, Georgia 30326 in memory of Mr. Robert Lee Hewitt.
Interment will follow in the Toccoa City Cemetery with Masonic Rites by the Hebron Masonic Lodge #564.
