Mrs. Greta Dawn Thompson, age 91, of Toccoa went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at The Overlook in Toccoa, Georgia.
The daughter of Don and Mildred DeGriffion, she was born February 21, 1930, in Mount Zion, Kentucky. She lived most of her life in Washington DC and Rockville, Maryland, before moving to Stephens County in December 2019. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband Earl Joseph Hack and her second husband Robert Edward Thompson and son Robert Edward Thompson Jr.
Mrs. Thompson worked for the telephone company, and retired from IBM and Lockheed-Martin, and told many stories of her adventures and the people she loved with every job. She loved fishing with her husband. She loved her dogs and everyone else’s dogs. She loved her great-grandchildren and everyone else’s babies.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Richard J. and Linda J. Hack of Martin: granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Harrison and three great grandchildren, Troy Knight, Tyler Lipford and Savannah Lipford.
Mrs. Thompson’s wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial of Life Service will be held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 67 Poplar Springs Rd. Lavonia, GA 30553 where she was a member on March 1, 2022, at 2:00p.m., Pastor Bruce McGee will preside.
